EFT/TAPPING

Learn more about Emotional Freedom Technique and how it can support you

What is EFT/ Tapping?

Emotional freedom technique (EFT) is an alternative treatment for physical pain and emotional distress that utilizes the acupuncture meridians in the body to help change a person from a negative into a positive state. Acupuncture uses needles to apply pressure to these energy points, EFT uses fingertip tapping to apply pressure.

This unique healing modality combines elements of both mind and body by combining elements of exposure therapy, cognitive therapy, and physical stimulation of acupressure points on the face and body.

EFT Tapping session in Vancouver, British Columbia by Julia Falci Holistic Business Coach

EFT tapping can help you access your body’s energy and send signals to the part of the brain that controls stress. By stimulating the meridian points through EFT, tapping can help to reduce stress or negative emotions you feel, ultimately restoring balance to your disrupted energy.

Here are four major physiological shifts you can expect during an EFT session:

  • Lower activation of the amygdala, lessening your body's response to trauma during a recall (Feinstein, 2008)

  • Rapid re-uptake and re-synthesis of cortisol and other stress hormones (Oschman, 2006)

  • Increased secretion of neurotransmitters such as serotonin (Feinstein, Eden & Craig, 2005)

  • Relaxation response in the parasympathetic nervous system (Lane, 2009)
